A meeting was held with the JICA project team as part of efforts to improve the legal and regulatory framework of the Khushig Valley Free Economic Zone and to further refine related research and policy documents.
The Ministry of Economy and Development has been cooperating with the JICA project team since 2023 in supporting Mongolia’s economic development. During this meeting, the parties held in-depth discussions on reforms to the legal and regulatory framework governing free zones.
The meeting was organized within the framework of implementing the objective set out in Clause 1 of Official Directive No. 04 dated July 15, 2025, issued by the Prime Minister of Mongolia, namely to “introduce amendments and additions to the Law on Free Zones.” The parties exchanged views on the possibility of comprehensively updating the Law on Free Zones adopted in 2015, taking into account the development concept and specific characteristics of the Khushig Valley Free Economic Zone, and aligning it with contemporary requirements.
