Khushig Valley Free Economic Zone governor B. Saranchimeg met with Jahad Shamsiev, the newly appointed resident representative of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). During the meeting, she presented the development and construction plans of the Free Zone. Although Mr. Shamsiev had not previously worked directly on the development of free zones, his experience managing loans in the financial sector of Central Asian countries for the EBRD gave him a good understanding of the International Financial Center. He expressed keen interest in establishing an International Financial Center in Mongolia and inquired in detail about the project.
Regarding infrastructure projects, the EBRD had previously worked on establishing an Industrial Park in Mongolia, but their involvement in developing and supporting the Darhan and Eermeltiin industrial parks was slow. Therefore, they discussed constructing and financing infrastructure in the Khushig Valley Free Zone and planned to review relevant projects. They also considered involving experts with experience in providing technical assistance for the development of a free economic zone and agreed to follow up after assessing these possibilities.
